I have today discovered an old Hymac 580BT lying about 15 miles away from where I live, it is in working order but has not been started for over a year now, just thought I would post some more photos in a thread.

In the first shot we see the view from the operators seat.

In this shot we clearly see the very basic controls employed in old Hymacs, in most machines the left hand lever operated the boom up & down, & the bucket open & close, the right hand lever worked the slew left & right, & auxilary function, & the two foot pedals operated the dipper in & out. I have to admit it would feel quite alien to me these days but when I used to operate Hymacs in the 70's it felt quite natural.

This machine features Air Conditioning ??? No Windows!!!! :lmao: :lmao:

In this shot we can see the track frame and turret, these were a bit of a weak spot on Hymacs and as you can see on this model there has been a fair bit of welding going on, they were very prone to cracking up!!

Here is a shot of the slew motor, this looks as if it has been replaced at somepoint as it is a different colour to the rest of the machine.

And here we see the Heart of these old machines the Ford engine, in my opinion a better unit than the later Perkins ones that were fitted.

With a bit of hard work and TLC this machine could be back in great shape!! :thummar: :driver:

Hi Guys,

This one is for sale in Norway. The seller thinks it's from around 1980, fitted with a 6 syl Ford engine. Price NOK 55.000,-

I guess it was the fact that here in the UK we all drive right hand drive cars, ?? It just seemed logical at the time to put the cabs on the right side :???:

Hi Heinz,

I would be very suprised if this machine was a genuine 1980 machine as the sliding door with glass top & bottom was replaced way before 1980??

Still a very nice tidy example though. Are you going to be buying this machine??

Nick. :thummar:
